Suomen itäpuolelle oli voimistunut matalapaine, joka kierrätti hyvin kylmää ilmaa myös Espoon Tapiolaan, jossa yllä oleva kolmen kuvan sarja oli kuvattu samana päivänä. Vuorokauden ylin lämpötila oli -2,4 astetta, mutta auringonsäteily jaksoi jo sulattaa etenkin tummia lumipintoja (kts. albedo). Tässä kuvassa nähdään, kuinka tummajäisellä (hiekkainen jää) kadulla sulamisvettä valui oikealta aurinkoiselta kohdalta. Kuvan varjoisalla kohdalla vesi kuitenkin jäätyi alustaansa virratessaan ilman oltua pakkasella. Tuloksena syntyi deltamaisia jäätymiskuvioita veden virtausurassa. To the easternside of Finland had been strengthened a low pressure, which circulated very cold air also into the district of Tapiola in Espoo, where the three picture series above had been pictured during the same day. The maximum temperature of the day was -2,4 C, but the radiation of the sun managed allready to melt especially dark snowsurfaces (check albedo). In this picture we see, how along the darkly iced (sandy ice) street a melting water flowed from the sunny spot on the right. However on the shadowy spot in the picture the water froze into the bottom when the air was freezing. As a result of that deltalike freezing shapes formed on the trail of the flowing water.
