Yllä on kolmen kuvan ryhmä, joissa oli kolme tyypillistä tilannetta juuri lumen alta paljastuneista nurmikoista. Tässä alimmassa kuvassa nähdään nurmikon seassa hieman talven liukkauden torjuntaan käytettyä hiekkaa (väylä oli lähellä), mutta merkittävin seikka oli nurmikon vihreys. Heti lumen alta paljastuttuaan nurmikon vanhat korret voivat olla märkinä ja lumen alla suojassa olleina vähän aikaa vihreitä, mutta auringon kuivattaessa niitä ne muuttuvat ruskeaan suuntaan ennen uuden kasvun ilmaantumista. There is above a group three photos, where there was three typical situations of the lawns just exposed from the snow. In this lowest picture we see among the grass a little sand used in winter for the prevention of slipperyness (a path was nearby), but the most signifigant feature was the green colour of the lawn. Immediately after exposing themselves from the snow the old straws of the lawn can be for a little while green as they are wet and were protected under the snow, but as the sun dries them up they will turn brown before the new growth appears.
