Kesän viides helleaalto huipentui tänä päivänä, kun iltapäivän lämpötilat kohosivat yleisesti Etelä-Suomessa +30 ja +32 asteen välille. Sää oli yhä selkeää tai melkein selkeää, joten auringon paahdettakin riitti. Kuivuus eteni jo monilla alueilla siten, että se tuhkahdutti vaihtelevalla tavalla kasvien kasvua. Niinpä esim. kallioisilla mäillä kasvukauden eteneminen oli jo lähes tyystin pysähtynyt. Kosteilla alueilla, kuten savisilla mailla, pohjaveden tasoltaan korkeilla alueilla, soilla ja varjoisilla pohjoisrinteillä riitti vielä kosteutta ja näin erot eri kasvupaikkojen suhteen muodostuivat koko ajan suuremmaksi. Kosteilla alueilla valtaosa kasveista pystyi käyttämään ko. lämpimyyden vielä hyväkseen ja sen vuoksi kasvukausi näiden osalta kiri jo yli kaksi viikkoa edelle tavanomaisesta aikataulusta. Kuvassa nähdään tästä esimerkki kuvattuna Hämeenlinnassa erään puiston viereisellä kadulla. Tuohon kadun reunaan oli varissut puistolehmuksen (Tilia x vulgaris) kukkien terälehtiä. Ne olivat varisseet vasta kahden viime päivän sisällä, joten niiden kukkimissävy oli vielä melko keltainen. Ko. puun kukinta on tavanomaisesti vasta heinäkuun loppupuolella eteläisessä Suomessa, mutta nyt sen kukinta oli päättymässä jo tässä vaiheessa. Säätilanne: valitse Base Time 8.7.2006. Wetter3 A. The fifth heatwave of the summer peacked at this day, as the afternoon temperatures reached +30 C to +32 C commonly in southern Finland. The weather was further clear or allmost clear, so there was enough scorching of the sun as well. The drought progressed allready in many areas in such a way, that it suffocated in various degrees the growth of the plants. Therefore for example in rocky hills the progression of the growing season was allready allmost completely stopped. In moist areas, like in clayish soils, in areas with high ground water, in swamps and in shadowy northern hill sides there was yet enough moisture and so differences between different localitys formed all the time bigger. In moist areas most of the plants were yet able to capitalize this warmth and therefore the growing season among these plants pushed allready more than two weeks ahead of the average schedule. In the picture we see one example of that as pictured in Hämeenlinna on a street beside a park. On that edge of the street there had been shed flower petals of Common Linden / Hybrid Lime (Tilia x vulgaris). They had been shed only during couple of last days, so their blooming colour was yet rather yellow. The blooming of this tree is on an average at the latter part of July in southern Finland, but now its blooming was ending allready at this stage. Weather condition: choose Base Time 8.7.2006.
