Varjoisimmilla paikoilla löytyi vielä koskematonta, märkää ja loskaista lunta (yöpakkasissa tilapäisesti jään muodossa) tämän kuvan tapaan. Tämä kohta oli tiheän metsän pohjoisreunalla olleella nurmikolla. Vastaavalla tavalla myös metsien sisällä lunta oli säilynyt laikuttain tähän asti. Aukeilta paikoilta lumi sulaa pois tyypillisesti n. pari viikkoa aikaisemmin kuin tiheistä metsistä. Lumen takia tällaisella kohdalla oli vielä myös routaa jäljellä jopa yli 10 senttiä. On the most shadowy places there was yet untouched, wet and slushy snow (in the nightfrosts temporarily in the form of ice) left in the fashion of this picture. This spot was on the lawn in the northern side of a dense forest. In a same fashion also in dense forests snow had been remained in patches up to here. On open places the snow melts away typically about two weeks earlier than in dense forests.
