Säätilanne: valitse Base Time 14.6.2006. Wetter3 A. Since the previous photo series southern Finland was invaded by a heatwave, which continued up to this day. The maximum temperatures were in inland areas even around +30 C and by the southern coast cooled down by the sea breeze to about +25 C. At first the night temperatures were a bit under +10 C due to a clear and calm weather, but at the night before the photoshoot the minimum reading was +12,5 as the westerly - southwesterly wind picked up. The heatwave was caused by a high pressure stayed in the southern side of Finland and due to that by an air mass streamed from the west and southwest. It was all the time rainless, so therefore in the most scorching and sunniest places there started allready to form slight drought; like in southern sides of buildings and southern sides of hills and also on sandy - rocky soils. The pair of pictures above is photographed during this day in the district of Tapiola in Espoo. In this lower picture we see Creeping Buttercup (Ranunculus repens) on the sunny and trambled part of a lawn. This plant is common in Finland on these kinds of places and after Dandelion (Taraxacum officinalis) it's the next plant to produce plentyfull amount of flowering on the lawns. This spot is beside a sandy path, in which the mentioned drought started to appear on the most minor plants; withered and greyish green leaves. Weather condition: choose Base Time 14.6.2006.
