Ankarasta kuivuudesta oli haittaa myös eläimille. Tässä siitä nähdään riipaiseva esimerkki. Kuvassa oli nurmikolle kuollut siili (Erinaceus europaeus). Se oli virunut tuossa luultavasti ainakin edellisestä päivästä lähtien. Kuvassa siilin päällä nähdään tyypillisesti myös raatokärpänen (Cynomya mortuorum). Siilit ovat alttiita kuivuudelle, koska nekin tarvitsevat sen verran vettä juodakseen. Tässä tilanteessa puistojen ja puutarhojen (joissa siilejä monesti elää Suomessa) vesilätäköt olivat erittäin harvassa ja valitettavasti tämä siili ei ehtinyt hyödyntää toissapäiväisen sateen lyhyttä kosteutta. There was harm from the severe drought to animals as well. In here we see a harrowing example of that. In the picture there was a hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus) died on a lawn. It had been languished in there presumably since the previous day at least. We see typically also a blowfly (Cynomya mortuorum) on the hedgehog in the picture. The hedgehogs are sensitive to drought, because also they need water to drink in such amounts. In this situation in gardens and parks where hedgehogs are many times living in Finland) puddles were very few and far between and unfortunately this hedgehog didn't have time to utilize the short moist period of the rain in the 22nd day.
