Kuivuuden kehittymistä kaikkien aikojen pahimmaksi kuvastaa hyvin tämä kuva. Tässä vaiheessa tällä alueella kesän 1955 kuivuus oli vielä pahempi, mutta koko ajan pahempaan suuntaan oltiin menossa. Kuvassa nähdään ruskeaksi kuivuneella nurmikolla voikukan (Taraxacum officinale) lehtiruusukkeita. Voikukallahan on paksu paalujuuri, johon se voi varastoida mm. vettä. Nyt kuivuus oli vaivannut tätäkin lajia tällä paikalla niin paljon, että juuren vesivarasto oli loppumassa ja niinpä nuo lehdet olivat jo suureksi osaksi kuihtuneet. This picture reflects finely the drought being progressed into the worst of all time. At this stage in this region the drought of the summer 1955 was yet worse, but conditions were evolving all the time worse. In the picture we see leaf rosettes of Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale). We know that Dandelion has a thick taproot, where it can store for example water. Now the drought had been harmed also this species so much on this place, that the water storage in the root was ending and therefore those leaves were allready wilted for the most part.
