Heinä- ja elokuun vaihteessa Etelä-Suomessa oli tavanomaisen lämmintä kesäsäätä. Heinäkuun kaksi viimeistä päivää olivat jopa vähän viileitä lämpötilojen jäätyä päivälläkin vähän alle +20 asteen. Sadetta ei kuitenkaan tullut edes tässä vaiheessa, joten kuivuus paheni koko ajan viilenneestä säästä huolimatta. Yllä on neljän kuvan sarja kuvattuna samana päivänä Espoon Tapiolassa. Siinä nähdään päättyneen heinäkuun aikana kehittyneen kuivuuden ja toisaalta ko. kuun lämpimyyden vaikutuksia. Tässä alimmassa kuvassa kuvasin Tapiolan keskustassa olevan koristevesialtaan vettä. Sateettomuus oli verottanut myös tämän altaan vettä, jonka vuoksi altaan pohja tuli paremmin näkyviin. Niinpä kuvassa nähdään hyvin altaan pohjalle kasvanutta levää. Levien kasvu oli heinäkuun aikana erittäin hyvää lämpimien säiden takia ja nyt veden alennuttua myös valoa oli erinomaisesti saatavilla. Veden pinnalla oli kelluvia koivujen (Betula sp.) siemeniä, joita esiintyi paikoin massoittain heinäkuun puolivälin jälkeen. Tällaiset pinnan epäpuhtaudet toisaalta vähensivät pohjalle tulevaa valoa. Esim. ravinteisissa järvissä sinilevät esiintyivät heinäkuun aikana pinnan paikoin kokonaan peittävinä massoina. Säätilanne: valitse Base Time 2.8.2006. Wetter3 A. Wetter3 B.

At the turn of July and August there was typically warm summer weather in southern Finland. The two last days of July were even a bit cool, as the temperatures remained even at noon a little under +20 C. However there didn't come any rain even at this phase, so the drought got worse all the time despite the cooled weather. Above there is a four picture series photographed during the same day in the district of Tapiola in Espoo. In there we see influences of the drought progressed during July and on the other hand influences of the warmth during that month. In this lowest picture i photographed the water of an ornamental pool in the center of Tapiola. The rainless weather had been decreased the water of this pool as well and due to that the bottom got to be more visible. Therefore we see in the picture finely the algae grown on the bottom of the pool. The growth of the algae was very good during July due to the warm periods of weather and now as the water level got down there was also light available in an excellent way. There was floating Birch (Betula sp.) seeds on the surface of the water. They appeared locally in masses after mid July. On the other hand these kinds of unpuritys of the surface decreased the light reaching the bottom. For example in fertile lakes the blue-green algae appeared as masses covering locally the surface completely. Weather condition: choose Base Time 2.8.2008. Wetter3 A. Wetter3 B.
