Kuvan tilanne - Situation in the picture: Sembramännyn (Pinus cembra subsp. sibirica) varisseita käpyjen rankoja oravien / lintujen syöminä (lajin isot siemenet on syöty); syömisestä oli jäljellä myös irrallisia käpysuomuja. Lisäksi maassa oli varisseita ko. männyn neulasia. Kuva on otettu Kaisaniemen kasvitieteellisessä puutarhassa - Shed cone stems of Swiss Stone Pine (Pinus cembra subsp. sibirica) as eaten by squirrels / birds (the big seeds of the species are eaten), there was also loose cone scales left from the eating. In addition there was shed needles of the pine in question on the ground. The photo is taken at the botanical garden of Kaisaniemi in Helsinki.

Sään aiheuttamia ominaisuuksia - Properties caused by the weather: Sembramännynkin kävyt olivat kypsyneet etuajassa lämpimän kesän takia, kuten alimman kuvan kohdalla kerrotaan. Niinpä myös syöntijäljet olivat etuajassa - The cones of Swiss Stone Pine as well were ripened ahead of schedule due to the warm summer, as it is told in the case of the lowest photo. Therefore the eating marks as well were ahead of schedule.

Huomioita - Notes: Nuo neulaset varisivat elokuun lopulla ja ne olivat tyypillisesti kesän lopussa varisevaa vanhinta vuosikertaa (3 - 5 vuotta vanhoja). Tämä variseminen ei liittynyt kiinteästi kasvukauden vaiheeseen (tehoisan lämpösumman kertymiseen), koska se oli puun ruskaa; kosteusolot (kuivuus) ja päivän pituus vaikuttivat siihen enemmän - Those needles shed at the end of August and they were typically the oldest annual volume (3 to 5 years old) shedding late summer. This shedding didn't associate thightly with the phase of the growing season (with the accumulation of the effective temperature sum), because it was the fall colours of the tree; humidity conditions (the drought) and the length of the day were affecting more into that.
