Kuva on otettu Espoon Tapiolassa ja siinä nähdään varisseita metsävaahteran (Acer platanoides) raakoja hedelmiä. Huonosti pölyttyneiden hedelmien variseminen ennen niiden täyteen kokoon kasvamista on hyvin tyypillistä vaahteroilla. Joitakin päiviä aikaisemmin esittelin metsävaahteran lajikkeen verivaahteran (Acer platanoides "Schwedleri") varisseita hedelmiä. Ne olivat lajikkeelle tyypillisesti punertavia. Tätä ja sitä kuvaa vertailemalla havaitaan myös kasvukauden edenneen. Se havaitaan näiden hedelmien isommasta koosta. Puussa säilyneet hedelmät olivat tässä vaiheessa vielä isompia ja jo melkein täysikokoisia, koska osa noista kuvan hedelmistä oli varissut muutamia päiviä aikaisemmin. Kasvukausi oli edennyt viimeisen n. viikon aikana melko nopeasti ja tässä vaiheessa sama jatkui kesän kolmannen helleaallon alkaessa. Etelä-Suomi oli nyt kahden rintamavyöhykkeen välissä, jossa ilmamassa lämpeni koko ajan paikallaan ja lounaasta - lännestä saapuneiden ilmamassojen ansiosta. Ko. päivän ylin lämpötila oli +23,1 astetta, mutta sisämaassa oli jo paikoin n. +25 astetta. Säätilanne: valitse Base Time 16.6.2006. Wetter3 A. Wetter3 B.

The picture is taken in the district of Tapiola in Espoo and in there we see shed unripe fruits of Norway Maple (Acer platanoides). The shedding of poorly pollinated fruits before they grow into full size is very typical with maples. Some days earlier i showed the shed fruits of Norway Maple cultivar Schwedler Norway Maple (Acer platanoides "Schwedleri"). They were reddish typical of the cultivar. When comparing this and that picture we observe also the growing season's advancing. That is observed from the bigger size of these fruits. The fruits on the trees were at this stage even bigger and allready allmost in full size, because part of those fruits of the photo were shed a couple of days earlier. The growing season had been progressed in a rather fast pace during past about a week and at this phase the same continued as the third heatwave of the summer was starting. Southern Finland was now between two frontal zones, where the air mass warmed continuously in place and due to arriving air masses from the southwest - west. The maximum temperature of the day was +23,1 C, but in inland areas there were locally allready about +25 C. Weather condition: choose Base Time 16.6.2006. Wetter3 A. Wetter3 B.
