Nyt kesän kolmas helleaalto oli täydessä voimassa, kun yli +25 asteen lukemia oli jo koko Etelä-Suomessa. Tässä vaiheessa on muistutettava, että Suomessa hellerajaksi on määritely +25 astetta. Tämä kuva on otettu Hämeenlinnassa, joka sisämaakaupunkina oli kasvukauden etenemisen asteessa edellä n. viikon verrattuna esim. Espoon Tapiolaan; syynä olivat touko- ja kesäkuussa esiintyneet merituulitilanteet. Kuvassa nähdään varisseita kynäjalavan (Ulmus laevis) kypsiä hedelmiä puiston hiekkakäytävällä. Toisen Suomessa yleisen jalavan vuorijalavan (Ulmus glabra) hedelmät ovat selvästi isompia, mutta molempien hedelmien kypsyminen tapahtuu suunnilleen samaan aikaan. Jo edellinen helle n. viikko sitten nopeutti kypsymistä ja viimeistään nyt kuivassa ja aurinkoisessa säässä heikollakin tuulella variseminen oli runsasta. Em. syystä variseminen oli etelärannikolla kuitenkin vasta alussa. Jalavat tekevät joinakin vuosina kinoksittain siementä ja tämä vuosi oli juuri sellainen. Säätilanne: valitse Base Time 18.6.2006. Now the third heatwave of the summer was in full force as there were hotter than +25 C readings allready all over southern Finland. At this time it have to be noted, that the limit of heatwave in Finland is defined to be +25 C. This photo is taken in Hämeenlinna, which was considering the stage of the growing season about a week ahead of the situation as compared for example in the district of Tapiola in Espoo; the reason was the prevailed sea breeze situations during may and june. In the picture we see ripe shed fruits of European White Elm (Ulmus laevis) on the path of a park. The fruits of an other common elm of Finland Wych Elm (Ulmus glabra) are clearly bigger, but the ripening of the both fruits happens approximately at the same time. Allready the previous heatwave fastened the ripening about a week ago, but at the latest now in the dry and sunny weather the shedding was profuse even during weak winds. However the shedding was only in the beginning by the southern coast due to the mentioned reason. Elms form in some years driftfulls of seeds and this year was just like that.
